Burung Kakak tua Yang Terbunuh
Saat siang itu hari tampak
cerah. Angin bertiup sepoi-sepoi membuat tangan-tangan pepohonan
melambai-lambai. Tampak dari kejauhan seekor burung kakak tua yang sedang
mencari makan terbang santai berputar-putar. Kemudian dia tertarik dengan
tanaman padi yang berwarna kuning emas yang terlihat melambai-lambai kepadanya,
mengundang untuk berhenti sejenak makan siang. Burung kakak tua memutuskan untuk mendarat. Belum sempat
burung kakak tua mendarat, tiba-tiba dia merasa sesak dadanya. Baru tersadar
ketika dia melihat sebatang anak panah menancap di dadanya. Tak ayal lagi si
burung kakak tua jatuh ke bumi. Dalam nafas terakhirnya si burung berucap,
”Wahai manusia kejam, kalian
curi bulu-bulu kami, dan kalian kembalikan lagi kepada kami beserta kematian
kami. Kejahatan kalian akan terbawa di dalam kalangan kalian sendiri. Mulai
kini separuh umat manusia akan membuat senjata untuk membunuh yang separuh
lagi. Dan upahnya adalah cucuran darah yang keji.”
Akhirnya si burung kakak tua
menemui ajalnya terkena panah yang dibubuhi bulunya sendiri.
